National Pet Month: An Ode to Tilly and Daisy

As April is National Pet Month, I thought I’d write a post about two special fur babies. I’m a firm believer that a house is not a home without a pet. Be it a cat, a dog, a rabbit, a parrot, whatever, they become part of the family and we can’t imagine life without them. My two fur babies (or rather, one fur baby and one fur sibling) bring me so much joy, so if you’re a fellow animal lover, I hope you enjoy this post – along with a few cute pics thrown in.

I’ll mention straight away that Daisy isn’t actually my pet. She’s my Mum’s. So rather than my fur-baby, she’s my fur-sister. Daisy is a Cavachon – part Bichon Frise, part Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She’s a complete diva, but she is the happiest, cuddliest pooch I’ve ever met, and since my Mum got her as a puppy nearly 3 years ago, I can’t imagine going round to her house without this gorgeous little bundle running up to greet me. She knows exactly when you’re upset or not feeling very well, and if that’s the case she’s straight on your lap to give you a cuddle. Like all dogs, she’s incredibly loyal and she loves a good game of fetch or a nice long walk in the sunshine. I think you’ll agree that you can’t help but smile when you see that little face…

You will have occasionally seen Tilly pop up in a few previous posts. She is of course, my pride and joy. We adopted her in 2013 after her and her siblings were taken in by Cats Protection – it’s a cliché, but it was genuinely love at first sight. Tilly was born with a head tremor and a few minor reflex problems, but aside from being a bit of a messy eater, she still lives her best life, and if anything, her little quirks make me love her more. We have to keep her as a house cat because she can’t jump very high, meaning if something went to chase her she’d struggle to get away, but I have no problem with that, because I know that she’s always safe. She’s a complete Daddy’s girl, and her favourite thing is to cuddle up on my husband’s lap of an evening. She has got an endless supply of toys that I’ve bought her over the years, yet her favourite thing to play with is the plastic egg you find in a Kinder Surprise. She’s incredibly sassy most of the time, and like most cats she’ll have at least one night a week where she goes totally batshit crazy, but that’s just cats in general isn’t it?

So that’s my two special little floofs. Both Tilly and Daisy have been there when I’ve been at my lowest and somehow they’ve always been able to make me smile, even if it’s just by sitting there and looking pretty!

Do you have any fur-babies? Let me know in the comments!
