About Me

A to Z

Over the last few months I’ve seen that some of my fellow bloggers have taken to doing an A-Z post. I love the idea, and it seems like a really good way to give your readers a little extra information about you that they may not know otherwise. I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while now but it’s actually been a lot more difficult to put together than I thought! Some of the stuff you will already know, some of it hopefully will be new facts. So, enjoy the A to Z of me!

A – Anxiety

The most obvious choice when it came to the letter A. I suffer from anxiety, and have done since I was a child. It’s a massive pain in the butt.

B – Birthday

My birthday is the 4th May 1992. Star Wars day.

C – Cats

Cats are most definitely my favourite animal. They’re cute, but they’re incredibly sassy and independent.

D – Daisy

Daisy is my Mum’s dog – my fur-sister. She’s a cavachon and is the sweetest, fluffiest little pooch who makes me smile whenever I see her.

E – Emetophobia

I’ve suffered with a phobia of vomiting since I was about 5 years old. My earliest memory of it developing is an episode of Rugrats with a very graphic scene after Angelica tries on Chucky’s glasses.

F – Fuck

Apologies for bringing down the tone so early, but this is a word I use A LOT, so it felt wrong to not include it.

G – Grey’s Anatomy

It’s been going since what? 2003? I only discovered Grey’s Anatomy early in 2017, but since then, I’ve been HOOKED. I love the drama and I love how Shonda Rimes can get me incredibly lairy by messing with a beloved character’s happiness.

H – Habits

I have a lot of bad habits. As you’ve probably guessed already, one of them is my potty mouth. I also drink a little more than I should and I have absolutely zero patience.

I – IBS

I’ve suffered with IBS since I was fairly young (soz, TMI). It’s not the best combination when you have emetophobia and anxiety.

J – Julie

Julie is my Mum. She is the best person in the whole world. She makes me laugh, she doesn’t take shit from anyone, and even though I’m 27, she still looks after me. We’ve had some of the best times together too, including going to see Michael Bublé and low-key stalking Noel the Supervet at DogFest!

Me & Mama J

K – Kill Bill

Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 are two of my favourite movies. I remember watching it when I was about 16 and I became OBSESSED with it. Just the whole unravelling of the story, the style of it, all of it. Uma Thurman is just so damn badass.

L – Liam & Lillie

Liam is my husband. We’ve been together for over 11 years and this year we will have been married for 5 of them. He’s amazing for putting up with me all this time, he makes me laugh every day and he looks after me. Plus, as much as he’d hate to admit it, he’s the best cat Daddy to Tilly!

Lillie is my best friend. I met her through work 7 years ago and we became friends through our love of dogs, wine, and Taylor Swift. She is my other half, my partner in crime, and I can’t imagine my life without her.

M – May

My full name is Amy May Jackson. May is after my great grandmother who also had the same middle name.

N – Northampton

I went to the University of Northampton, so Liam and I lived there for 3 years in our first ever flat. As much as I hated the whole university thing, I quite enjoyed living in Northampton generally, but nothing beats being back home in Wiltshire.

O – OCD

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll have known this for a while. I have OCD. I was diagnosed with it in 2016 and currently I’m in recovery. You can read more about it here.

P – Peep Show

My husband first introduced me to Peep Show a few months into our relationship, and since then it’s been one of our go to shows to watch through at least once a year. In addition, it’s something me and my best friend quote to each other all the time. It’s bloody hilarious and it’s a unique twist on your classic British sitcom.

Q – Queen Tilly

You’ll be familiar with Tilly, my cat. My friend Fern regularly refers to her as ‘Queen Tilly’ because of how regal she always looks in her pictures. Tilly is an absolute diva, but she’s cute, cuddly and she makes me laugh. Never underestimate how much you can love your fur-babies.

R – Russell Howard

My obsession with Russell Howard started about 10 years ago when he was doing Mock the Week, and it’s still going on. I’m not ashamed to admit he’s on my ‘list’ – you know, the list that Ross makes in Friends and keeps a laminated copy in his wallet! I definitely have a thing for comedians.

S – Shake It Off

Shake it Off by Taylor Swift is my absolute favourite song of all time. It’s the song that Lillie and I bonded over years ago and it’s still one that we completely lose our shit over whenever it comes on. It’s a song I love so much, that I have it tattooed on my foot. Not just because it’s my favourite song, but because “shake it off” is such a good mantra!

T – Tattoos

On the subject of tattoos, I have three of them. I have Shake It Off, as mentioned above, a Little Mermaid seashell and fork (or rather, dinglehopper) on my wrist, and a cat and a serotonin symbol on my ankle. I got my first one in April 2019 as part of my 30 Before 30.

U – Undergraduate Degree

My Undergrad degree is in Psychology and Counselling. I graduated with a 2:1 in 2013.

V – Valentine’s Day

People always get a little confused as to why my husband and I always make a big deal of Valentine’s Day each year. It’s because it’s technically our anniversary. On Valentine’s Day in 2009, he first asked me to be his girlfriend.

W – Wine

I drink a lot of it. My favourite is Pinot Grigio or a Zinfandel Rosé. I’m not a fan of red wine though!

X – X-Ray

This was literally the only X I could think of. I’ve had a few X-Rays as a child but I don’t really remember the reasoning behind them.

Y – Yankee Candles

I have a mild obsession with Yankee Candles. I have a bag full of them in my wardrobe that has taken me several years to get through, and because I love them so much, it’s one of the most common presents I get for Christmas and birthdays!

Z – Zoo

Again, another one I couldn’t really think of anything for. I love a zoo trip, purely for the fact that I can see some penguins. My favourite zoo has to be Dudley Zoo, which we went to quite a lot during our time in Northampton. Their penguin enclosure is amazing!

  1. I love the idea of this post – I might have to do one myself! ☺️ Sorry to heat you’ve suffered from emetophobia since such a young age. It’s quite scary what an affect children’s programs can have on us 😫xx

    1. Oh I would definitely recommend! It took me a while to do but it was such good fun 😊 Omg it’s awful – I’m so weird with TV shows and ‘those’ scenes, I’ve been completely desensitised to certain stuff (The Inbetweeners is a classic example, there’s so many scenes and I’ve seen them by accident so many times that they now just don’t bother me) but tell me to watch that specific clip of that Rugrats episode and I’ll run a mile 😂 xx

      1. The Inbetweeners has to be the worst! Even when flicking through channels you’re blind to come across one of ‘those’ scenes in it 😆 My boyfriend has to skip ahead at certain points of films to check whether it’s safe or not 🙈😆 Some scenes can be so traumatic! xx

      2. Completely agree – it’s such a shame as it’s one of my favourite shows. I remember during both movies I had to time a toilet break in during those particular scenes! xx

    1. Thank you for reading 🙂 Haha I’m glad it’s not just me! They’re both absolute cuties – Daisy is so full of mischief but you can’t help but smile at her even when she’s naughty! xx

  2. Haha, great post! An A-Z post seems like a great way to introduce yourself to your readers. Now I kinda wanna do one myself! 🙂 And oh, do you have a photo of your TLM tattoo?! I grew up watching Disney movies and TLM is one of my favorites. I’d love to see it if that’s okay!
