Hello all! February has certainly whizzed past and it’s time for another monthly wrap up. All in all this month has been alright – a large chunk of it was spent nursing a sprained wrist while the first week was spent mostly in a heightened state of anxiety due to the upcoming camera-up-the-butt thing. Aside from that though, things haven’t been too bad – I have a new haircut, and Liam and I celebrated our 11th year together on Valentine’s Day. So, let’s delve a little deeper into the events of February…

What’s Been Happening
New Hair
Okay so it’s not exactly major news, but I had my first “dramatic” haircut in quite a while. For a while I’ve just had trims, but I was getting sick of my lanky ass locks causing me to look about twelve, so I had it all chopped off. My stylist, Zoe, did an amazing job with it and curled it all up to give it some extra body and I was so pleased with it! I’m not great at curling it myself so I don’t do it very often, but I’m currently loving having this bouncy lil’ hairdo. Plus, blow drying it in five minutes is so much better.

Colonoscopy
I mentioned last month that I’d finally been given the date for my colonoscopy, which I had about 3 weeks ago now. I’ve put together a separate post on the experience (not that you’d probably want to read it, but I want to give my honest account for anyone who may go through one in the future and I’ve tried my best to make it funny), but for now let’s just say it wasn’t my favourite way to spend two days. Not being able to eat anything for a total of 36 hours combined with having to neck two litres of what tastes like toilet cleaner was not an experience I’m keen to relive anytime soon. I should stress that I’m fine though. Well, even though they didn’t find anything, I had biopsies taken just to be safe, and at the time of writing I’m still waiting on the results. Hopefully by the time I put a post together I’ll have them, but I’m not holding my breath.
Sprained Wrist
Around the last week of January I had a bit of an accident while doing one of my pilates workouts. I’m not entirely sure what I did specifically, but I think I basically just put too much pressure on my skinny-ass wrists at the wrong time. I didn’t actually seek any medical attention for it, but from the pain I had with it, I’m convinced it was a sprain. Of course, that means for the last month I’ve not really done any workouts because I’ve been trying to rest it. Let me tell you, resting a sprained wrist when you work 8 hours a day on a computer and then come home and blog in your spare time is not an easy task. Both Deep Freeze gel and my wrist support have been getting me through this month, and thankfully, my wrist is feeling much better now. I’m giving it to the end of this week and I will make a point of restarting my workouts.
Yoga Class II
I mentioned last month that Lillie and I joined a beginners yoga class. In total it was a five week course, and I was gutted to miss one week thanks to the scheduling of my colonoscopy, which meant I had to skip class and sit in bed drinking the disgusting prep medicine instead. In hindsight, I probably could have gone, but there would have been a very fine line between getting through the class without a Bridesmaids style situation on the yoga mat and well, not. The week after that was our final class, and I was a little annoyed as I had to rock up wearing my wrist support. I was determined to stay at the level I’d been doing, but the teacher advised it was best to take it easy (obviously she was the expert so I did as I was told, but I was not happy only being able to do the bare minimum). I feel proud for completing the course, but at the same time I’m a little annoyed at the fact I had to miss a class, even though it couldn’t be helped. At the moment I’m not sure if I’ll keep going (money reasons and that) but at the very least it’s given me a few pointers for when I get back into doing my Yoga with Adriene workouts.
Valentine’s Day
As you will have read in an earlier post, Valentine’s Day was mine and Liam’s 11 year anniversary. We celebrated with dinner and A LOT of wine at home on the night itself, and we had the most epic steak sharing plate at The Herd in Bath on Sunday. Gift wise I had a dozen roses and a necklace, while I got him some fancy wine and a card game he wanted. We also did pretty well in terms of cards too – I was especially thrilled with my Baby Yoda one that I received!

Mental Health
Considering the health issues that were a clear focus this month, I feel my mental health was much better than January. Looking at my mood tracker you can see that I had more ‘fine’ days than ‘pissed off’ or ‘depressed,’ and while I didn’t really do a mood tracker last month, I instantly feel as though this is better. Fingers crossed for March I can go into a few more ‘happy’ ones!

Gratitude List
I wanted to make sure that I kept up my gratitude list for February – my anxiety wasn’t particularly great during the beginning of the month so I wanted to try and make sure I focused on a few more positives. Here’s my top ten things I’ve been grateful for this month:
My February gin box (I’d show you a picture but it’s all gone…).
Being well looked after in the hospital when I had my colonoscopy (shout out to the endoscopy team at Royal United Hospital in Bath).
Apple and cinnamon hot cross buns.
Starting the new season of Sex Education.
Watching Taylor Swift’s Miss Americana documentary (I cried, I raged at Kanye, I fell in love with Taytay a whole load more).

Dinner at The Herd for our Valentine’s date night.
Meeting up with our friends for a game night for the first time since before Christmas.
Watching Flo & Joan’s stand up special on Amazon Prime – they’re this amazing musical comedy act and I highly recommend it!
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway coming back – not gonna lie, I want a place on the plane.
Liam and my Mum looking after me on the day of my colonoscopy appointment.

Daisy sitting in the sunshine Tilly looking after me the day after my colonoscopy Tilly enjoy a Sunday morning episode of Homes Under the Hammer Playing a Valentine’s game of Throw Throw Burrito Daisy all toasty in my Mum’s cardigan
Coming Up in March
At the moment, March consists of pretty much one thing – stand-up. If you’re a regular reader you’ll know about how Liam and I regularly see live stand-up comedy, and this year we’ve gone a bit extra (or rather he has!). March is probably one of our busiest as we have three shows booked in – we’re seeing Josh Widdicombe first, followed by Ed Byrne, and then we’re seeing Iain Stirling towards the end of the month. Ed Byrne is someone we’ve seen before quite a few times and he never usually disappoints, but Josh Widdicombe and Iain Stirling are both first time shows for us.
Hopefully more will happen in March so I can put together at least a half decent wrap up post, but for now that’s pretty much it!
What have been your highlights from February? Let me know in the comments!

It was so good wasn’t it?! It really did, and I love how it showed her bounce back from all of the hate too. Thanks for reading! x

Sounds like a very busy and not particularly pleasant month! Very glad to hear your mental health didn’t suffer too much from it though ☺️ Congratulations on your anniversary! At least there was something nice to celebrate amongst the colonoscopy and sprained wrist 😆
I have my fingers crossed for a good March! ☺️🤞🏼xx

Thank you 🙂 It wasn’t particularly the best month but it was nice having our anniversary in between to have something to look forward to! x

This was so much fun to read! It sounds like you had a busy February! I’m so sorry about your wrist and that you had to have a colonoscopy! But I’m glad everything is alright and that you survived! Hopefully you won’t have to do one for a long while. But your comment about having a “Bridesmaids” like incident on the yoga mat made me laugh. And congratulations on your anniversary! 11 years is a long time! And on Valentine’s Day too! It sounds like you two had a cozy time! And I loved that you ended the post with a gratitude list. That’s so nice and wonderful!!!
I can’t wait to see what you have to say about what happened in March!

Thanks Emily 🙂 It definitely wasn’t the best month but having our anniversary in between definitely made things a bit more bearable. I’m trying to focus more on gratitude these days and I think it definitely helps me feel more positive! Thank you for reading 🙂 x

Aw love the fresh new haircut! Having shorter hair must be so easy to manage! Hopefully you’ve gotten your colonoscopy report back & you’re all clear. ❤ Glad to hear that it went smoothly & is over with now!
I totally understand your disappointment about the yoga class & I hope your wrist is all better now. ❤ Your V-Day sounds like it was a blast and both the cards are so cute!! I've never heard of this burrito game but it looks fun & interesting lol.
Were you booked to see THE Iain Stirling? The one that does the voiceovers for Love Island?!

Thank you! It’s SO much easier to deal with and it blow dries so quickly now too. I got my results back a few weeks ago and all is clear thankfully! Thanks for your well wishes 🙂
Wrist is a lot better thankfully although I’m still a bit scared when I do workouts now so I have to really pace myself when there’s any arm stuff just to make sure I don’t over do it! I would definitely recommend Throw Throw Burrito – it’s hilarious, especially after a few drinks!
We were! Unfortunately due to the coronavirus it’s been postponed until next year! Not gonna lie though I was quite relieved as I wasn’t very keen on sitting in a crowded room with hundreds of people’s germs! xx

Oh yay ❤ so happy to hear your results came back all clear & that your wrist is doing a bit better! I'll have to see if I can find Throw Throw Burrito around here. 🙂
Awesome that the show has been postponed! The shows I had lined up were completely canceled. 😦

Definitely see if you can get it somewhere, it’s great fun!
Oh that really sucks, yeah I’ve got a few more events I’m yet to hear on yet – hoping they don’t get completely cancelled at least! xx
