June 2020 Wrap Up

I can’t actually believe we’re over halfway through the year now. It’s been an interesting one. I for one am looking forward to how utterly shitfaced I’m going to get on new year’s eve this year, as I’m sure the rest of the UK – and indeed, the world – will. Out of all the lockdown months, June has certainly been one of the more quiet ones. The only thing that’s been busy is my Amazon account if I’m being completely honest. By the time this post goes live, lockdown in the UK will have been lifted a little further, in that we can now go into people’s houses. We still can’t hug our loved ones, but we can go into their houses, use their toilets and drink from their glasses. At the point of writing I still haven’t ventured into a shop, despite the fact they’ve been open for a few weeks now, so I’m hoping that by the time I post my July wrap up, that will have changed. The best news from the last few weeks? I’M BOOKED IN FOR A HAIRCUT! On the 17th July I will finally be getting these rats tails sorted and I can’t bloody wait. Anyway, here’s what’s been going on over the last month or so. Spoiler alert…it’s been a fairly quiet one. However, some pretty good stuff has happened.

June Wrap Up 2020

What’s Been Happening

BUBBLES

June saw the PM make the announcement that single parents and people who live alone could pair up with another household to make a “social bubble.” There would be no need for social distancing, and you could stay the night in each other’s house. My Mum lives alone, so we’ve now formed a bubble with her. For the first time in three months, I was able to go into her house, sit on her sofa and have a cup of tea as I normally would do. It’s such a small thing but it’s been amazing getting some form of normality back. While it felt wrong at first, it’s been so nice knowing that my visits to see my Mum haven’t been reliant on the weather. It really makes you realise how much you’ve missed the little things over the last few months.

Bitching Walks

One of my highlights over the last few weeks has been what’s now become a weekly ritual with Lillie. We’ve been going on a weekly bitching walk (we bitch about pretty much everything) and it’s been so nice to see each other properly and to have a laugh as we always do. It’s been a little something to look forward to every week and again, even though we haven’t done anything like this before, it feels like we’re getting a bit of normality back. I’m looking forward to when households can meet again and we can actually have a wine session!

500 Blog Follows

I recently had a notification that I’ve hit 500 followers on WordPress. What the actual F. I certainly didn’t expect to ever reach 500 followers on my blog EVER, let alone only halfway through my second year. I’m so grateful that people have been taking the time to read my blog and keep up with my posts over this last year or so, and it certainly made my week.

Gratitude List

Having weekly evenings where I can do my nails and binge Normal People while Liam has a gaming session. I’m now on my fifth watch through and I have no regrets. Some may call it obsession, I’m calling it self care.

Watching The Inbetweeners through along with both movies. Still as funny as they were the first time.

Actually being able to go into my Mum’s house and sit on her sofa while having cuddles with Daisy.

My weekly walks with Lillie.

Watching through the Cornetto Trilogy – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End.

Having some socially distanced father’s day visits with the in-laws, along with a Skype call to my Dad.

My copy of Wonderland magazine arrived…Paul Mescal did a photoshoot and he is PERFECTION.

Booking an appointment to get my hair cut for the first time in months.

Reaching 500 followers on my blog.

Liam going out and buying me cake one day because I couldn’t stop crying (I accidentally forgot to take my medication and fuck me did I pay for it).

Month in Pictures

If the last few month’s have taught us anything, it’s that I take A LOT of photos of my cat.

Coming Up Next Month

I’m really hoping that I can start seeing a few more friends and family in July when they lift the lockdown a bit more. As I mentioned earlier, I’d quite like to be able to say I’ve gone in a few shops too. There’s the potential of me going back to work as well, but I’m absolutely terrified at the idea so I’m trying not to think about it too much right now. So far, I’m just hoping to be able to see a few more family members.

Let me know how your June was in the comments!

  1. Love the cat photos! Keep taking them! ♥️🐈 Tbh I haven’t taken photos lately because my apartment is a total disaster. The bubble concept sounds interesting! And congrats on the 500 followers! I find your blog very relatable and we share a lot in common. We have cats, we’re both married, we have degrees, we cry a lot, and we both like cake! Very relatable!

  2. Congrats on getting to 500 followers! June for me has been overall positive. I’ve been enjoying the hot weather and I’ve been bitten by the reading bug and constantly am craving to just sit and read a book. I’ll be allowing myself for reading time in July for sure! Keep up the good work on your blog! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’m definitely needing to spend a bit more time reading throughout July – I normally smash through piles of books at this time of year when I go away so I’m lagging at the moment! Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂 x
